Who we are
We are a team of Designer-Makers, Landscapers and Builders
-
Creative Director & Founder
The team is led by Joel De Mowbray, who has been woodworking and carving for over 20 years, skills that have run in his family for four generations. Prior to founding Yes Make, Joel worked within the public sector designing and managing the delivery of major infrastructure projects such as Cycle Superhighway 4 (London Bridge to Greenwich) and Brixton Liveable Neighbourhood. Since Yes Make’s establishment, Joel has led the design and build of more than 40 projects ranging from public spaces for Great Ormond Street Hospital, Tate Modern, British Land, 9 London Boroughs and a plethora of other high profile clients.
Joel is committed to bringing local people into the process and practice of turning lifeless spaces into unique and characterful places.

Designer-Maker
Chris is an experienced carpenter, architectural designer and art fabricator. He has worked on a range of projects from social housing and young people's participatory build programmes to the British Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale before joining Yes Make. Chris has a masters degree in architecture and is skilled in both traditional and modern construction methods. His work focuses on community-driven projects that nurture and advocate for the rights of communities, environments, and ecologies.
-
Master Craftsman
Arthur is the third in the four generations of woodworkers in the De Mowbray family. He has played around with bits of wood - whittling, carving and joining - learning how it can be shaped, bent or fixed to make both supple or rigid structures for as long as he can remember. Focusing mainly on creating public art, many of his pieces can be seen across London but are scattered throughout the world.
He is deeply committed to moving between art, engineering, architecture and landscaping, taking into account the purpose, peculiarities and stories of a place and the people who use it. Arthur is happiest when making work that does not separate art from the world that goes on around it.

Maisie is a highly-experienced designer-maker with a passion for creating sustainable public spaces through hands-on making and technical design. With a background in large-scale installations - including Random International's Rain Room - she returned to study at the Architectural Association’s Hooke Park, specialising in experimental timber architecture and fabrication.
Maisie joined Yes Make filling the role of Lead Designer for the design and build of the new parks for the Carpenters Meanwhile projects. Driven by a love for traditional craft, collaborative making, and problem-solving, Maisie is committed to creating thoughtful, resourceful, and lasting spaces.
